The Database of Randomised Controlled Trials in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine

Banner1.JPG
Welcome to the HBO Evidence pages. Here you will find short critical appraisals of all (well, as many as we can find) randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews in both diving and hyperbaric medicine. These appraisals are classified into disease categories and present the evidence in a standard way to enable rapid and meaningful comparisons between trials.

Latest CATS: Just appraised: Londahl confirms survival advantage at six years for diabetic foot patients treated with HBO (Londahl 2015).  HBOT is not helpful to treat postoperative adhesive small bowel obstruction (Fukami 2018). More evidence that HBOT improves outcome in diabetic ulcers (Perren 2018), while (Chiles 2018) suggests HBO used routinely after robot-assisted prostatectomy did not improve erectile function. One small study suggests HBO will bring ulcerative colitis flares under remission in five days while another is not supportive (Dulai 2018; Pagoldh 2013). A planned study to tell us if HBOT is really effective for preventing ORN (Shaw 2018).
