The Database of Randomised Controlled Trials in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine
Welcome to the HBO Evidence pages.Short critical appraisals of all randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews in both diving and hyperbaric medicine.
These appraisals are classified into disease categories and present the evidence in a standard way to enable rapid and meaningful comparisons between trials.
Pages written and maintained by The HBOE Working Group. This site is freely available to the public and professionals alike. All enquiries:Professor Michael Bennett, Prince of Wales Clinical School, Sydney [m.bennett@unsw.edu.au]

We are always on the lookout for new trials or those we may have missed. If you know of any (human) RCTs in this area please contact us at [m.bennett@unsw.edu.au]

Latest CATSNew evidence that HBO is effective for radiation cystitis (Oscarsson 2019) and sudden hearing loss (Chi 2018)
Planned study of mild cognitive impairment in elderly patients with diabetes (BenAri 2020)
Pooled analysis suggests there is (1) some justification for further studies into the use of HBOT for PTSD after mild head trauma (Hart 2019) and (2) a low rate of adverse effects in either arm (Churchill 2019).
New evidence that unresolving athletic injuries may improve with HBOT (Chen 2019).
Papers awaiting appraisal: A list of published RCTs we have not got around to yet (take that as an invitation!).
